Ed
Ed is dumber than a bag of hammers, and that makes him TONS of fun to write and draw. I created Ed out of a need for a stooge to Landon’s straight man. Every good comedy team needs at least one clueless, yet somehow lovable oaf. I decided that in this case a ghost would be a perfect fit for what I wanted the character to be because ghosts by and large just go about their business unaware of the reality that surrounds them. They haunt these old buildings and houses, annoy the living heck out of any living folks they hang around, and are complete oblivious to the fact that they’re deader than a Sci-Fi/ action show on the Fox network.
For the character design of Ed, I wanted to really make him something unique. I played with a bunch of different concepts until I stumble across the idea of showing a little bit of skull and rib cage floating inside his ghostly form. It came to me in the form of this little marker sketch:
