Nine years! It’s been nine years since Jenny Everwhere first appeared on the wonderful internet. Last year, Jenny Everywhere Day was started as a way to mark Jenny’s birthday with a collection of art from a wide variety of artists in one place. Coloring in Between the Lines

A while back, good friend and fellow cartoonist, Lucas Turnbloom asked for my assistance in a big project of his. Aside from his wonderfully wacky comic Imagine THIS, he has an all new, all ages graphic novel in the works. This graphic novel was in need of some color for it’s cover, and Lucas enlisted my mighty Photoshop skills to add some C, M, & Y to his K (sorry, lame printing joke). Anyway, here’s a small peek at Lucas’ dramatic cover with my colorful embellishments. For a little better look at the cover and announcements on Lucas’ other projects check out THIS blog entry. Of course, as soon as I know more about when the book is available, I will let you all know.

Legend of Bill Fan Art

There I was sketching away on my lunch break at the day job, when this image of a goofy barbarian started to appear. The more I sketched, the more familiar the character became. Next thing I know I’m staring at Bill and Frank from David Reddick’s awesomely entertaining comic, Legend of Bill! Bill and Frank turned out to be so much fun to draw that I just had to finish the sketch with inks and color. Below I’ve posted a shot of the original lunch break sketch.

MONSTERPLEX Fan Art!

If you haven’t heard by now my good buddy, Brock Heasley of SuperFogeys fame, has a comic currently in competition at Zuda called MONSTERPLEX. Brock recently put out an open call for Monsterplex fan art over at the Official Monsterplex Blog, so I put my pencil into action and whipped up this little pin up of Priscilla. For those of you that like the behind the scenes type stuff, I have posted a shot of the pencils for this pin up. Enjoy!

Ghosts of Guest Art Past: Clovis Jong-il

I did this little piece of fan art a while ago for “Imagine THIS“. I don’t quite remember what inspired me to draw Clovis the teddy bear as everyone’s favorite nutty Korean dictator, but it seems natural. I think it stems from my philosophy that teddy bears in big glasses = funny 100% of the time! This little drawing even inspired “Imagine THIS” creator Lucas Turnbloom to do a series of Clovis Haloween costumes in his strip.

Ghosts of Guest Art Past: I Am GEEK!

I did this piece a couple of years ago to show some love to Benj Christensen’s webcomic, I Am GEEK! Geek is currently on an extended hiatus, but can still be found starting HERE. I became a big fan of Benj’s geek-centric humor way back when I started Boxcar Astronaut in 2007. Benj was one of the first webcomic creators I got to know online and we’ve been internet friends ever since. Ghosts of Guest Strips Past: Imagine THIS!

Here is look at a guest strip I did for one of my good internet buddies, Lucas Turnbloom. Lucas’ hilarious strip, Imagine THIS is another of my favorites. Featuring a cantankerous teddy bear named Clovis, a dim witted, but lovable toy dinosaur named Dewey, and a pathetic looser named Darin. Do yourself a huge favor and check out Imagine THIS!

For this guest strip, I chose to parody the great film, Fight Club. It felt like a natural fit to me because both Fight Club and Imagine THIS feature goofy shlubs with aggressive imaginary alter egos.

Ghosts of Guest Strips Past: Pinkerton

Pinkerton is one of my favorite comics on the web. For my money, creator Mike Witmer writes some of the best dialog of any comic out there today. I’m not sure from what part of the brain Mike pulls the snappy banter his characters like utter on a regular basis, but I’m jealous. Characters like Buckley the rodent eating fox or Tucker the alcoholic divorced rabbit make for one entertaining wacky fun time.

A couple of years ago, when Mike was taking some time off to hit the sauce… um… take a vacation, I submitted this guest strip. It’s a parody of A Hard Day’s Night, the Beatles first motion picture. I’m a huge Beatles fan, so it seemed only natural to put Mike’s Furry Four in place of the Fab Four. If you haven’t seen the film, this strip spoofs one of the first scenes where we are introduced to Paul McCartney’s grandfather.

SFO: Behind the magic!

The second and final page of my brief run on Brock Heasley’s SuperFogeys Origins is up today. In honor of that I thought I’d share a peek at the pencils for the story. Now, be warned, the pics are from my phone, so they’re not exactly top quality. I snapped these shots after I finished each page’s pencil work to send them to Brock so he could be in on what I was doing with his words. That’s the great thing about modern technology, it makes a long distance creative collaboration with a short deadline so much easier.
