I have been blissfully ignorant of Lady Gaga’s music for quite a while. Oh, I know who she is, and I’ve seen her outlandish costumes. Being a fan of artists like David Bowie and Alice Cooper, I can appreciate her bizarre antics. Until recently, though, I’ve managed to avoid her music. Then one night my niece was listening to “Bad Romance” while I was in the room and instantly a vicious ear worm took up residence in my head. That song tore into my inner ear like one of those creepy bug things in Wrath of Khan and latched onto my brain stem. The only way I could think of to exorcise this rythmic demon from my skull was to put it into a comic. For the record, it did not work. The demon still lingers. Anyone know a good priest?

Don’t you just hate it when you’re on the phone and someone is standing there staring at you waiting for the phone call to end, looking like they’ve something really important to ask, only to find out it’s something incredibly stupid? Yeah, me too.

Oh, and let it be known that Gummy Bacon is real, and it’s out there. Be afraid.

After laying out the pencils, I then inked onto a sheet of vellum placed over the pencils. Final color and shading was added using markers and a little bit of colored pencils for accents. Below I’ve included a couple of shots of this piece in progess that I originally posted last week on Twitter while I was working on it.

I know people who have their own rituals when it comes to scratching instant win lottery tickets. Each spot gets scratched in a certain order like it’s some secret combination to unlock the big pot of cash hiding behind that silvery scratchy stuff. What strikes me as amusing is the knowledge that the fate of the ticket has been determined long before you even bought it, so these rituals are moot. I guess as long as you have fun playing the scratch tickets, what’s the harm.

Quantum mechanics and the great mysteries of our universe fascinate me. I love watching shows like Nova and soaking in terms like “string theory” and “Schrodinger’s Cat”. Of course, in a serious discussion on the subject, I’d be waaaaay out of my league. There’s a reason I’m drawing silly cartoons and not playing poker with Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Sir Isaac Newton, and Lieutenant Commander Data.

Show of hands, who gets a little chuckle out of thought of Landon in high school? I think I may have to revisit our favorite werewolf’s early days.

Landon seems to be having a bit of a personal crisis. The real important thing to discuss here is Star Trek or Firefly? It’s potentially incendiary debate, so try to keep it civil…. go, discuss.

Here we are officially introduced to D.K., Landon’s old friend. If you’ve been reading for a while now and feel like you’ve seen this guy before, you’re right. D.K. made a minor walk on appearance in the “Def Leppard strip”.

Now, I love me some Star Trek. While I’m a fan of most Trek shows, (except Voyager, never really got into Voyager) it was the Next Generation that started it all for me. I spent my high school and college years glued to the tube when NextGen was on. This little story line is just my way of saying thank you to the people who brought me one of my favorite shows.

I think by now, we all now that Landon is a bit of a dork. What we are about to learn is, just how big of a dork is he? In the next couple of strips the nerd-o-meter gets cranked to 11 here at Spooky Doofus. We’re about to boldly go where no webcomic starring a werewolf has gone before (I think).
