Today’s Spooky Guest Strip comes from Roland Perez of Metal Jaw Comics. You’ve seen Roland’s work in all the fan art he’s contributed, and now you finally get to see him take on a full Spooky strip! Coming up, I’ll be experimenting with a new feature here at the Doofus. Spooky Sketch Sunday will bring a page out of my sketchbook depicting various supernatural creatures and characters. This will offer an expanded peek into the world of Renfield Square.

On Tuesday I’ll be back again with a new Spooky strip in which Ed helps Landon find some relief from the heat wave.

Today’s historic Spooky Guest Strip comes from my cartooning brother-from-another-mother, Lucas Turnbloom of Imagine This! Why do I call this “historic”, you ask? This marks the first time Dr. Vincent, founder of our favorite Scare Emporium, himself has been rendered visually. Truth be told, I never really gave much thought to Dr. Vincent as a character, I just thought it would be a cool name for the store. Having seen Lucas’ wonderful gag, though, my imagination has been shot out of a cannon thinking of all sorts of wacky, freaky things Dr. Vincent could be getting into. So, keep reading, Spooky Fans, Dr. Vincent will be making a proper appearance in the town of Renfield Square!

Now, it would be bad form on my part to not call your attention to the fact that Lucas has a brand new Imagine This collection available now right HERE! I ordered mine. What are you waiting for? You might even find a little guest strip by yours truly inside!

Today’s guest strip come from one of the true sweethearts of webcomics, Irma Eriksson. Irma deserves a huge “Thank You” because she managed to squeeze in this strip in between moving, working a day job, keeping up her own comic, and getting the first Imy book put together! That Imy book, by the way, is scheduled to debut at the New York Comic Con this October! If you’re headed to NYCC, make sure you track her down an pick up a copy. If you can’t make it to NYCC, don’t fret, Irma will be selling the book through her website in November. Inside the book you’ll also find a special pin up by your truly!

Baby Update

We’ve settled into a nice groove of constant feedings, naps, and diaper changes. Sleep is something that comes in small doses now, but since I do a webcomic, I’m used to late nights and early mornings. Baby Penny seems to be happy with how things are working out so far, though. Here’s proof:

This week’s guest strip come from the most excellent Benj Christensen. Way back in 2007, when I was working on my first venture into the wonderful world of web based comics, Benj was one of the first creators I got to know online. His hysterical comic I Am Geek has gone through several evolutionary stages since those days, yet the core geek culture based humor has remained strong and fresh. If you’re a fan of sci-fi, comic books, video games, and RPGs, I Am Geek is the perfect comic for you. I highly recommend taking a day or two and digging though the archives. Another baby announcement!

As if welcoming a second daughter last week wasn’t enough for my family, I now have the honor of being a new uncle! A couple of days ago, my sister and her husband brought their son into the world! So I just want to throw out a special “Hello” to my nephew Cole Thomas Mayotte. Drawing lessons with Uncle Marc begin as soon as you can grasp a pencil.

While I take a day with the new baby, my good friend Dawn Griffin of the wonderful sci-fi comedy webcomic, Zorphbert & Fred has generously donated her time to produce this great guest spot. (If you missed my announcement on Tuesday, check it out HERE) Well, friends, mommy and baby are home, happy, and healthy. Big sister Zoe loves her new sister, Penelope and can’t wait to show her how to give daddy grey hairs. Here’s a little pic of my girls hanging out at the hospital.
